Emotions- what we feel when we feel & why?

Hi All,


Recently I have been seeing around that due to Covid-19 epidemic the people are struggling on all the levels of Life, including financial, physical and emotional health.


If we see this together it’s feels like a circle-- one aspect affects another and the next one to the third one. So, for example if your Financials are not doing well it will affect your Mental/ Emotions (causing worry or fear), which at last will affect your Physical Health (may be in log run).

And this is not a surprise that once you are not Physically healthy, you will need Medical help which will add to your bills making the Financial complex, and the cycle goes on.



So, what should we do?


To break this circle, you need to understand that the core here is our Mental / Emotional Health. If that is fine everything else will start falling in its right place one by one.

Or I should say it's like to solve a puzzle, and putting first few pieces together.


In order to understand the Emotional health, you need to first understand the Emotions!


What are they? Why do they exist? And how can we Guide our mind to be in right Emotional State.This is a huge topic and of course, can’t be covered just under one post.


So, I will be starting with the basics and further we move towards progress.





Now......What are Emotions?



If you search it on Google or may be on Wikipedia., the basic definition stands like:


Emotions are biological states associated with the nervous system brought on by neurophysiological changes variously associated with thoughts, feelings, behavioral responses, and a degree of pleasure or displeasure.



In simpler way Emotions are what we feel (no matter good or bad).





As per “Robert Plutchik’s Theory” There are total 8 basic Emotions namely:


· Happiness.

· Trust.

· Surprise.

· Sadness.

· Anger.

· Anticipation.

· Fear.

· Disgust.

Below two are the additional in this list per my experience (we feel these as well, so they should be discussed):

· Loneliness.

· Jealousy.

Apart from these few basic emotions there are many others too, like Rage, Loathing, Boredom, Greif, Remorse, Disapproval, Love, Optimism, Serenity….. and the list can go on.


In my coming posts we will be discussing these Basic Emotions in detail as the first step, to understand the logics or reasons behind all these emotions, and how we should master them.
